1956 words today. Good news and bad news.

Good news is that I finished the final battle!

Bad news is that I’m still not done (!!)

This is officially the longest (first novel) I’ve ever written. I’m shocked that this thing is almost at 60K. I’m usually a 40K-50K guy. We’ll see how this does on the market.

I just have to write the final chapter or two that winds down the action. Very easy at this point. In fact, earlier tonight I finally got the “glimpse” of the ending that I was waiting for. I know exactly how this ends now. There aren’t any more surprises, and the “dark” part of “writing into the dark” is now illuminated. What a ride, y’all!

This is hands down, one of the oddest novels I’ve written. Both in content and in terms of how I wrote it.

– Nontraditional story with a nontraditional character

– Written into the dark

– Written partially on an exercise bike

– Written partially by dictating on my computer AND my phone

– Written out of order (I skipped around a few chapters, particularly in the beginning)

Absolutely crazy to imagine that less than a month ago, I had no idea what the first word of this book would be.

The book WILL be done tomorrow. I maybe have 1500-2000 words max left to write.

I taught an insurance class today, the first one of the year, and it went well. Given that I spent 8 hours talking nonstop, the fact that I got almost 2000 words done today is a miracle.

I used Dragon Anywhere to dictate about 500 words today, which definitely helped as I was doing my laundry. This might become my new addiction…

Anyhoo, the end is definitely on the horizon now.

Next step is to do a final master loop, which I plan on taking my time with. I’ll probably take a break for a couple days after I’m done with this book as I have a lot fo stuff that’s waiting for me—more YouTube videos to shoot, Amazon ad work, bookkeeping, etc. It’s all piling up.

Anyway, have a great night.
