I’ve been mulling around an idea for a community challenge. Let me know what you think, or if it’s too insane. You won’t hurt my feelings.
The concept:
Beat the Sun Up Challenge: 5 days waking up at 5:30AM and setting your intention for the day. Monday-Friday.
Between 5:30-6, do whatever you want. Honor system.
At 6AM, I’ll do a 6AM livestream where we:
- Set our goals for the day
- 5 minutes of silence
- Learn one new thing
- Community word count tally
- Livestream ends and you do whatever you have planned
I’ll do some sort of prize or giveaway for the people who are on the livestream five days in a row. Not sure what it will be yet. Maybe Scrivener, or a planner, or a free book of mine of your choice.
I’m just simply facilitating the challenge to get you up in the morning; what you do after that is primarily up to you.
Why do this? Because if you can do it amazing things happen in your life when you wake up early, early. That has been 100% true for me, and it’s one of the reasons I get more done before breakfast than the average writer does in an entire day.
What would happen if you woke up at 5:30AM everyday? For starters, you might be super tired. Or, you might get stuff done. You won’t know until you do it…
If this works, I also thought about doing a reverse challenge for night owls, where I start a livestream at 9PM and we do everything in reverse, ending in setting goals for the day. Both types are very prevalent in the writing community, especially here.
Anyhoo, let me know what you think…if anything, you can always watch the replay…
In other news, got my taxes all finished up, and I’m a happy man now. I just need to plan my next YouTube shoot, which I will do tomorrow and probably shoot either tomorrow night or Friday. I don’t like to plan and shoot on the same day—usually never goes well.
Have a good night.
