Today was a family day so writing wasn’t my focus. I did most of the work at night after family time. We threw a social distance birthday party for my daughter. Lot of fun but I spent a lot of time in my yard today which was great exercise. Mowing, trimming, weeding, hedging, and more to get ready for everything. Lawn was looking pretty good when I finished. Had some good food too.
Anyhoo, the sheer amount of stuff I got done yesterday was a prelude to a lower productivity day today.
I reviewed the edits for Project Atlas. This was one of my cleaner manuscripts. I got it formatted which took a little bit of time, but now it’s good to go in Vellum. All I need is the illustrations so I can pop those in to get a final page count. I’m eager to get this off to the designer but don’t want to jump the gun. One or two of the maps may require a two-page spread, so I don’t want to be off by the page count or I’ll have to pay for the designer to redo the cover, and that’s no good.
In other news, I did get Project Confidential Vol. 2 AND Project Constitution off to my editor today. She’ll be done by end of the week. I'll see a bit of a productivity dip as I prepare both of those for rapid publication shortly after and get the covers designed.
I also did an author interview with Marx and Julie Pyle on their Genretainment Podcast. Marx interviewed me in 2016 and he invited me back to talk shop and fiction writing. This was definitely one of most down-to-earth interviews I’ve ever done. We talked about fear, fiction writing, pet rabbits (rabbits!) and urban fantasy. I enjoyed our chat very much and will share it when it goes live.
Other than that, it was a pretty chill day today. You need those from time to time.
Also, not sure if I’ve shared on the blog, but the author Cherie Baker did a feature on my Urban Fantasy Book Database! Super cool to see it getting some press from UF authors. Check out here post here: https://drumcrosspublishing.com/2020/09/26/what-to-read-next/. Thanks, Cherie!
