2470 words today. It wasn’t because I wasn’t trying, though!!! I still have a pretty decent daily word count—better than yesterday. It’s just that this final battle is turning out to be the longest final battle I’ve ever written. Just when I think it’s over, there’s more…It’s crazy long, with a long lead-up to what I thought was the final battle, but no, that wasn’t it.
Last night just before the actual FIGHTING began, I hit a roadblock. I wasn’t sure about something the villain did. It bothered me, so much that I had to stop writing and think about it. I decided to sleep on it.
Last night, I had a crazy ass dream that basically told me what to write next. I woke up around 3AM and pretty much knew where the novel needed to go. When I started writing this morning, I had no issues getting the words down.
Sometimes, there’s value in sleeping on your story, folks.
Anyhoo, I’m making progress. But my internal estimates are pretty crappy for this book. LOL
– “I think this book is going to be around 45K.” (Actual book is over 55K now”
-“Unless something unforeseen happens I should finish the book by tomorrow night.” (One week later, I’m still writing the book…)
-“Maybe I can have the first trilogy done before I start law school classes on February 1st” (LOLOLOLMAO)
I give up… Maybe it’ll happen tomorrow, but I’ve got at least one more fight scene before things start sliding toward resolution. And I’ll be using a couple new techniques in that fight scene, so I plan on taking my time.
FACT-CHECKING
Also, I had one person reach out regarding the fact-checking gig I offered yesterday, which was awesome. That’s definitely going to make the story stronger, too. That brings me to two fact-checkers on the biology piece of the novel.
The novel SHOULD be done by this weekend, even at my current pace. There just isn’t that much left to write. But I said that last week…
By the end of this week (hopefully), it’ll go off to the final fact checkers who can hopefully have something to me by end of next week. Then it’s ready for the big-time—my editor, then formatting, then publication.
PROGRESS ON THE COVER
The designer sent me the next iteration of the cover. She illustrated it now, and it looks GREAT! She really, really captured the essence of the book and the genre, as best as one can given the subject matter. Whether or not it works for READERS, we’ll see.
