1600 words today. Long post alert.

Woke up early this morning. Got to inbox zero so my emails are cleaned up and caught up.

Also had an electrician come to install ethernet ports in my studio. Now I won’t have to worry about dropped connections when I’m doing podcast interviews…That alone was a major win because it will improve my professionalism. Ever since I started working from home my Internet has been weird. Probably because everyone is working from home. Good Internet is a must, not only for my work, but for my professionalism during virtual events at author engagements. It’s an invisible thing that no one ever sees or even thinks about until there’s a problem. My goal is to never again have Internet issues with speaking events.

My editor sent back the edits for Project Writing Tips. Yeeeeeah, baby! I started going through the edits.

I also prepared Author Income Project and got it off to my editor (I’m not giving her a break!). Should be done sometime next week.

Today’s Friday, and Fridays are usually when I write a couple chapters for Indie Author Confidential. That way, after about 8-10 weeks, I have a new volume. I haven’t written ANY words toward Vol. 3 but I have captured ideas. I wrote a few chapters, so around 1600 words.

I wrote my monthly newsletter today, which will be a good one. It’ll go out tomorrow.

Also, for anyone interested, my next Power Hour will be Saturday, Oct 24 from 11AM-12:30PM Central Time. I locked that date in.

In anticipation of my travel, I took some time to rearrange things on my calendar such as appointments and reminder emails so that nothing hits my inbox while I’m on the road. I also took the time to block off time on my appointment calendar through the end of the year. Around this time, podcast interviews slow down since many guests book 1-2 months in advance. Right now no one’s booking around the holidays. My speaking season is pretty much done after first week in November. It’ll pick up again around January.

Another moment happened today that I’ve been expecting for the past two weeks—the idea for my next series happened suddenly and swiftly. I’ve talked about how I’ve been preparing for fiction. Now, it’s time to start racing towards it so I can write this new series. I’ve had an idea I’ve been playing with lately, but I wasn’t sure how it would start. I watched a couple of movie clips today on a whim, and the opening scenes snapped into my mind. Can’t wait to share more.

I also planned two YouTube videos. Need to do one or two shoots before I leave so my editor has plenty to work on. Tomorrow I'll need to plan a few more.

Oh, and I’m speaking at another summit this month from Oct 22-25. It’s Escape the Plot Forest Summit run by Daniel David Wallace, and it’s going to be great. I’ll be talking about Mental Models for Writers. It’s FREE to sign up for the summit, though there is a premium pass if you want some extra bonus. Sign up here: https://forest.plotsummit.com/?sc=rmliHW9q&ac=TRlKwHjC

Anyway, another very productive day. I have a speaking event at the GDEX Gaming Conference and am looking forward to that as well.
