1100 words. I did some foolish, unproductive things this morning that almost derailed my beast mode for the day. It started last night.

I set my goals last night and felt good about them. I woke up early this morning (which was good), but I forgot to check my goals from last night. I started working on something that wasn’t even my primary goal for the day (some website stuff). As a result, when it came time to login for work, I had accomplished nothing meaningful for the day.

The thing I worked on could have easily waited. I screwed up my priorities and spent the rest of the day chasing the goals I wrote down, which were very basic: write 1000 words and do my author income for the month.

By the time I sat down at 10PM, I had zero words for the day, which was a problem. Fortunately the chapter I wrote went quickly so I landed at 1100, just in time for bed. But I missed my goal of doing my author income. I’ll get that tomorrow.

I also am breaking in this new planner, so that threw me off too because it was a new part of my morning ritual so I had to spend time getting that set up. The result was a highly organized but slightly disjointed morning that was hard to recover from.

I learned my lesson!

Overall, this is good. Just growing pains with a new routine, that’s all. I learned a lot:

  • Whatever my primary goal is for the day, I need to work on it in the MORNING.
  • Even if I don’t accomplish the primary goal in the morning, I still feel like I accomplished a lot.
  • Sometimes, I can accomplish ALL of my goals in the morning. The rest of the day is all upside.
  • I tend to have highly functioning “squirrel” syndrome. It’s amazing I’m able to get so much done at the volume I do because I am easily distracted.

Anyway, beast mode lives! I lost a good opportunity for another 1000 words or so, but that’s how it goes some days.

Tomorrow night I’ll get the cover back for Project Constitution, and it’ll be ready for formatting and publication. I’ll be able to announce by end of the week. Then I’ll be sending Indie Author Confidential Vol. 2 to the designer, and they’ll have that done by end of the week as well. We’re moving along at a good pace.

And also, I was interviewed by Huw Collingbourne at his blog, Dark Neon. Check out the interview here: http://www.darkneon.co.uk/2020/10/michael-la-ronn-interview-sf-fantasy.html . Huge thanks to Huw for the spotlight.
